Meet Joshua Gilmer (Founder)
Joshua Gilmer is the founder of Luau, an AI-powered platform helping overworked parents and professionals connect through meaningful gatherings. A Birmingham-based designer turned entrepreneur, Joshua created Luau out of a personal need — balancing a growing family, a demanding career, and a longing for deeper friendships. Joshua hosts over 40 dinner parties and get-togethers a year, and was frustrated with the lackluster experience of the tools available.
With two decades in digital experience design, Joshua now brings empathy and tech together for Luau. Whether it's planning a potluck or nudging a busy mom to invite friends over, Luau acts as a social co-pilot for relationships that matter. Featured in the Birmingham Business Journal, Joshua also speaks on loneliness, AI's impact on relationships, and the simple power of showing up.
