Invite guests

Luau gives you two kinds of inviting. Send it yourself to anyone, on any channel, with a link. Or let Luau send it to your mutuals, in which case Luau also does the following up.

Open the share sheet

The Share button appears for guests too when the event's Sharable setting is on. Turn it off in the ••• menu to keep sharing to you and your co-hosts.

What a mutual receives

When you tap Share next to a mutual, Luau sends the invite for you and keeps following up:

1. The invite: [You] invited you to [event], delivered push first if they have the app, then email, then a text, about 15 minutes apart, stopping as soon as one is seen.
2. Up to three reminders if they haven't answered: Reminder: [You] invited you…, Still on the fence? [event] is coming up, Last chance to RSVP for [event]. Two if the event is less than four days away.
3. Timing is learned per person. Once someone has RSVP'd to a few Luau invites, Luau uses how long they typically take to respond to space their reminders. Everyone else gets the default rhythm (a day, three days, a week). Nothing goes out before 8 am or after 9 pm in the event's time zone, and the last reminder lands at least a day before the event.
4. It stops. Any RSVP, even Can't, ends the reminders. So does cancelling the event.

No guest ever gets more than three reminders for one event, no more than one a day.

People who aren't on Luau

Send them the link. Text it, paste it in the group chat, post it. When they tap Going, Luau asks them to sign in with a phone number or email (a six-digit code, no password), keeps their answer, and submits it for them. Once they've RSVP'd Going to your event, you're mutuals and Luau can invite them for you next time. Invites you send yourself don't appear in the recipient's Invited tab; only invites sent through Luau do.

Why Luau won't blast your contacts

An invite from Luau is worth answering because it only ever comes from someone you know. That's a deliberate trade:

• No contact import, no bulk text list. Luau sends invites on your behalf only to people who already have a Luau account: your mutuals, or a Luau user whose email you enter.
• New accounts can't have Luau invite strangers. An account that is both less than a day old and has no mutuals can still share the link itself, but Luau won't send invites or manage RSVPs on its behalf until it has been to an event or accepted an invite.
• Accounts that several people have blocked lose the ability to send invites.

The upside is that when Luau reaches out for you, people open it, and the reminders land at the right moment instead of feeling like a campaign. If you want to reach a wider audience, share the link yourself.

RSVP on someone's behalf

This works only for your mutuals (You can only add people you actually know on Luau — invite them to the event instead). They get the same confirmation and reminders as a self-RSVP, and the guest list shows Added by [you].

What hosts can and can't see

You see who has RSVP'd and, in the share sheet, who you've invited. You don't see whether someone opened the invite, and you never see their phone number or email.

If nobody has seen your event

Two days after you create an event, if there are no RSVPs and you haven't invited anyone through Luau, you get one email: Heads up — nobody's seen [event] yet, with how many mutuals you could share it with. You'll get this at most once a month.

With a connected assistant

If you've connected Kai to an assistant like ChatGPT, it can invite up to 60 of your mutuals at once and remind non-responders for you, with the same limits (three reminders per guest per event, at most one a day). People who aren't on Luau still need the link.
